Imagine this pandemic time without the Internet, can you? I am talking about 2020 the year when we all are affected by Covid-19 one or other ways, our lives are literally turned upside down and there is one thing which has kept our hopes is Internet.
I am telling you this because we are able to do everything from our homes and without going out we are able to shop, watch movies, work, study and what not. Now imagine that you are unable to do any of this because you do not have internet so what's going to happen to your lives but trust me there is a place which has been without the Internet for more than a year and that is Kashmir.
Kashmir has been always a centre for all the conflicts around the world and the use and ban on Internet in all the conflict zones is most popular in Kashmir among all the conflicts across the globe.
Kashmir is not the most affected place in the world where the bans on Internet has been the highest in number and longest in terms on duration.
Kashmir is deprived of high speed internet, this is the time when people are working and studying online and when they need the internet most due to the pandemic Covid-19. On August 2019 when India abrogated a special status of Jammu and kashmir state without the consent of people and put the entire state in the lockdown for months, since then the maximum speed of Mobile data one can avail is around 360Kbps which people using around 20 years from now.
The question is on Freedom of Expression and freedom of equal rights, people are being pushed towards wall, this is the time when the people around the world are earning their livelihood because of the Internet because they can work from home and without going outside to avoid the spread of the disease but people from this part of the land has been snatched with these basic rights by the ruling government of India.
Can we change this?
Can we do anything about this and can we really fight the injustice in order to bring justice to those who are suffering because of the inefficient government?
Are we really doing enough to understand and help the people of Kashmir who are deprived of a lot of rights that we people are enjoying?
Ask yourself these questions and do a basic research after that in order to understand the conflict and the people affected by it.
