The word ‘intifada’ is an Arabic word means to “to shake” or ‘shivering’ or in modern terms “Popular uprising”.
Kashmir and its struggle to freedom has seen worst forms of injustice in 2019 from the day 1 and it all begins with the afternoon of February 14 2019 when a Kashmiri boy Aadil ahmad Dar blew himself up along with the 40 soldiers of Indian security forces. He went on rampage during the army convoy which was going to Srinagar from Jammu on the afternoon of February 14, 2019. Aadil, like most of the young boys from kashmir had a story to tell, story of oppression by Indian security forces and that’s what led the day of the suicidal attack on Indian security forces. Things escalated from this point and therefore tensions on the either side of the LOC. This incident was followed by attacks from each side of Indian and Pakistan into kashmir and unfortunately nothing improved for the people of Kashmir.
This year was also the election year for the India and a usual campaigning based on religion and Kashmir was on its way ahead of elections. The entire campaigning for the elections were based on Either Kashmir / Article 370 or Pakistan. On May 23, 2019, Narender Modi the face of ruling BJP party won lok Sabha elections for the second consecutive term and became the Prime Minister.

The ruling BJP party in their manifesto had mentioned that they will abrogate the special status of Jammu and Kashmir if they came to power again. After two months on August 5, 2019, Amit Shah, Home Minister of India announced in parliament the removal of Article 370 and Article 35A by presidential order with effect from 31st October 2019. Not only this State of Jammu and Kashmir was divided into two union territories Jammu and Kashmir being one and region of Ladakh the other part. From the midnight of August 5, the entire communication lines were closed, internet was suspended and the every other mode of communication was shut down putting the entire state under lock-down in the form of curfew to avoid any sort of unrest, protest or clashes against the centers’s move towards the state’s autonomy.
Going back to 26 October 1947, when Maharaja Hari singh, then ruler of Kashmir signed a document with the government of India to accede on three terms that is communication, external affairs and defense. Ruler of the Muslim majority kashmir was a Hindu and he joined India against the wishes of the people which led to the Intifada and a popular protest by the people. Most of the people of Kashmir wanted to join either Pakistan or wanted to remain independent but none of it happened due to the force accession which led to the formation of militant groups in the region against the rulers or government. When the revolts increased Maharaja Hari singh asked help from India and it was then(27 October 1948) when Indian Army was brought to Kashmir after it was acceded to India against the wishes of people. Now that Kashmir was in a way part of India so the state of Jammu and Kashmir was given a special status in the form of Article 370 and Article 35A which was the only hope for people of Kashmir or you can say this was the only bridge between People of Kashmir and the rest of India till date but that’s been destroyed and manipulated by the current regime once again by going against the wishes of People of kashmir.
People of Kashmir want justice and justice will be done In Sha Allah.
