An open letter for the People in or around India,
Houses in Kashmir bombed by security forces.
Most of the people today do not know the reality and history behind the Kashmir turmoil, they are not even aware that it is a dispute between Indian & Pakistan.
They have been following the media and the news channels who never portrayed the real news on the
ground and who never showcased what Kashmir problem really is all about?
Let me take them back to the year 1947, when India gained its freedom from Britisher's.At the time of
independence and before that there were around 500 to 600 such states prevailed in India. These states
were not governed by Britisher's directly but they were ruled by the local Maharaja so Kashmir was also
ruled by Maharaja Hari Singh a Dogra ruler of Jammu region.
At the time of Independence almost all the princely states merged into India but Kashmir chose to remain
independent and not joined with either India or Pakistan.
Later in the same year there was an attack on the territory by some groups from its west due to which
Maharajah signed an Instrument of Accession with India and to demand an Army aid to so that the territory
and its people can be protected.
Maharajah asked for the help from India because he was afraid of the attack from the other side and so
India was ready to provide the help on the condition that Maharaja should sign the Instrument of Accession
state of Jammu and Kashmir to be under the Dominion of India until the situation of rebellion on the ground
is under control.
It was then stated that people will be given a referendum vote and an option to choose their fate or future
according to their wishes.
That has been denied and on top of this there has been violence and killings and tortures every now and
then. There is a ban on everything which is stated as a fundamental right, you can’t really express or speak
in public about the atrocities done by the forces to the civilians.
People usually ask what is the problem if we stay as we are with India, they want to know why can’t we remain part of India.
We have never denied that we are not part of India but the problem is that we are not given a chance to speak up we are not given a chance to raise our voice.
The problem is that all the atrocities and the violence that has been happening is never acknowledged.
People never agree that whatever is happening in Kashmir s political dispute not a communal or
religious or territorial dispute.
I think being a human and living on this earth I have the right to be heard, I have the right to speak out.
If India is a democratic country then why are we denied of basic rights?
Why are people of Kashmir inside the jails without any reason or without any trial?
Why are people from Kashmir labelled as terrorists when they demand their rights?
Why is a boy being killed just because he raised a question on the government?
Why is so much of injustice being done to the people of Kashmir when they are outside its territory?
Now if a person does not have the answers to all these questions so my answer to all those people would
be that being a resident of Kashmir, I have the right to demonstrate and the right to protest like all other
citizens of the country have.
I have the right to ask what was promised by the forefathers of this country and I have the right to discuss
what is mentioned in the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1947.
It’s very easy to bully others and label someone a terrorist but ask me how alienated one feels when all of
this is experienced.
It's very difficult to see one's house bombed and shattered into pieces. you can’t sit back and relax when
someone who is innocent is being tortured and killed in your family just because a person has demanded
what he/she deserved to be given.
Militarize Kashmir
I know the fact that I am going to get lot of hate messages against this letter but that's okay
I have been victim of that since I stepped out from Kashmir.
People who troll others with out knowing the reality are in huge number so I can expect lot of it,
but I am writing this so that they are able to understand the history, geography and political condition
on ground. Kashmir valley is located in Northwest region in the Indian subcontinent, it includes Indian
occupied part, Pakistani occupied part and china occupied part.
According to UNSC Resolution of 1947 all these territories(Indian administered state of
Jammu & Kashmir, Pakistan administered Galgit Baltistan & Azad kashmir & the third part china
occupied part of Aksai chin) are part of Kashmir or Jammu and Kashmir but its became a never ending
dispute between the three occupiers.
I do not know much about the Pakistan or china region of Kashmir but I hail from Indian administered
Kashmir and I do know the situation on ground better than those troll us online.
I know how difficult it is to live under threat and danger of life every single second.
I was born in the year 1992 and the unrest was started right before that in 1989 when elections were
rigged after which faith and trust on the elections and governance was shattered.
People were left with the government not chosen by them, they were going to rule by the leaders chosen
by the central authority wanting to control them.
